Isaac Manyeki

Board Member

BA Nairobi University, MBA (Project Management) Kenyatta University

I am Project Manager at ILRI Policies, Institutions & Livelihoods (PIL) Program since 2018 and an active member of UTAFITI SACCO which I joined immediately after joining ILRI. I cherish being a member of the SACCO movement since 2004 when working with the Anglican Church Development Services. But it is in UTAFITI SACCO where I have benefited most.

I bring to the SACCO:

Governance: I have been a board member for different education instructions holding important dockets (board chair and Academic committee chair) for 3 school with a track record of academic performance improvement and infrastructural growth. I have also served as a member of various districts boards of the now Murang’a county working with great minds like Ken Lusaka and George Natembeya. As a Development Coordinator in the Anglican Development Services, I literally sat in almost all crucial district boards representing the religious sector. I took time to train and enhance my knowledge and skills on governance and leadership having trained on the same in Nairobi university as political science graduate.

The 8 years I worked as a development coordinator saw me interact with great SACCOS like MURATA SACCO (Now AMICAS), The Coffee Cooperatives, The Dairy cooperatives etc, where I sat in respective ministries caucuses to offer insights and support. I also helped train CBOs on leadership and governance.

Leadership skills: I naturally find myself volunteering for various leadership roles in the Church and the Community. I have been a member of community leadership pursuing community development issues. I delight to have been of help in helping initiate and complete several community Projects like water and security. This has horned my skills in dealing with leadership challenges. I am a better negotiator, known partnership builder, better skills in conflict management that comes with such exposure.

Though a trained Political Scientist, I have never felt inclined to vie for any elective post and even found it difficult to seek this nomination. I always view leadership as a call to duty; to serve mankind and therefore God and not an end by itself. I belief in leadership with integrity.

Management skills: I have close to 20 years of management practice having worked under Church and International Ngo’s like CARE Kenya, Plan International. This is my 6th year working as a Project manager at ILRI. I hold an MBA from Kenyatta University which widens my knowledge on this area. I hope offer enrich the management practices within the SACCO where necessary. It is always useful when governance understands and enriches the management practices; I desire to add value along this line.

Entrepreneurial skills and training having been a certified International Labor Organization Start Improve Your Business trainer over the last decade. I hope to benefit UTAFITI SACCO in identifying organizing beneficial investments trainings that would add value to their savings and credit facilities.

Above all, I am a family man, a firm believer in Jesus Christ, a church leader and community leader. I have faith in God that we will grow from strength to strength, that our families will benefit from our investment in the SACCO. I have firm belief that we can lead with integrity as servant leaders
